About London zoo: lets you know more about the ecology and nature


Managed by the Zoological Society of London, the London zoo was made open to the public in 1847. Started as a centre to study the various species of animals and aquatic life, it is the oldest zoo in the world. It was also the first to have its own reptile house, aquarium, insect house and children’s zoo. Located at Regent’s Park, bordering the city of Westminster, it is always on the top of the list of very tourist, who intends to visit London.

As of now, the Zoo has been renovated to offer more spaces to the animals. The caged enclosures have been removed, with new areas being allocated to the species, recreating the actual environment that they thrive upon. The London zoo is home to both Asiatic and African lions, Lemurs, Gorillas, Sumatran Tigers and many more. As of now, it is home to 755 specifies of animals.

Getting to London Zoo is not much of a problem. The nearest underground station is Camden town. There are regular water bus services too along the Regents canal.
